PROVIDING THERAPY VIRTUALLY IN CALIFORNIA, NEVADA, & IDAHO

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions about beginning therapy?

Starting therapy can bring up uncertainty, curiosity, or even hesitation. Below are answers to common questions about the therapy process, scheduling, fees, and what it may feel like to work together.

Beginning Therapy

The first session is a space for us to begin getting to know one another and explore what brings you to therapy. We may talk about your current concerns, patterns you’ve noticed, relationships, stressors, and what support you’re hoping for.

A good therapeutic relationship feels collaborative, grounded, and emotionally safe enough to explore what’s coming up for you.

There is no set timeline for therapy. Some people come for support around a specific transition or stressor, while others engage in longer-term work focused on trauma, relationships, or deeper patterns. Together, we regularly check in about your goals, needs, and what feels supportive for you.

At this time, all sessions are offered virtually for clients located in California, Nevada, and Idaho.

Fees & Insurance

  • Individual Therapy (50 minutes): $185
  • Family Therapy (70–90 minutes): $300
  • Adjunct Somatic Experiencing Sessions (50 minutes): $185

I currently accept select insurance plans through Headway. Insurance coverage and benefits vary depending on your specific plan. Please reach out if you’d like to verify whether I am in-network with your insurance.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining the expected cost of your medical and mental health care.

Under the No Surprises Act, healthcare providers are required to provide an estimate of expected charges to clients who are not using insurance or who choose not to use insurance benefits.

This estimate is meant to support transparency and help you better understand the potential cost of services before beginning treatment.

You may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services or at any time during treatment.

Yes. If I am not in-network with your insurance plan, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

I accept major debit cards, credit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged the full session fee.

Therapy Approach

Somatic therapy focuses on the connection between the mind, body, nervous system, and emotions. Experiences such as stress, trauma, overwhelm, and relational wounds are not only held cognitively, but can also show up physically through tension, shutdown, anxiety, numbness, or chronic activation. Somatic work helps build awareness of these patterns while supporting greater regulation, flexibility, and connection over time.

No. Therapy is not about forcing you to revisit painful experiences before you feel ready. We move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive. Sometimes healing begins by building safety, awareness, and regulation first.

You are not alone in that experience. Many people learned to disconnect from emotions or bodily signals as a way of coping or surviving. Therapy can help build awareness gradually without pressure or judgment.

Yes. Sometimes people come to therapy with a general sense of overwhelm, disconnection, anxiety, numbness, burnout, or feeling “off” without fully understanding why. Therapy can help create space to explore underlying patterns, experiences, relationships, and nervous system responses that may be contributing to that feeling.

Additional Support

Yes. Therapy is confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions. These exceptions may include situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect, or court orders requiring disclosure. Confidentiality and its limits will be reviewed during the informed consent process.

Therapy sessions are the primary space for ongoing support and processing. While I may respond to scheduling or administrative emails during business hours, I do not provide 24/7 crisis support. If you are experiencing an emergency or need immediate assistance, please contact 911 or a crisis resource listed on the Resources page.

I currently provide individual therapy and family therapy services. Family sessions may focus on communication, relational patterns, emotional safety, conflict, or navigating life transitions together.

Yes. Adjunct Somatic Experiencing sessions are available for individuals who already have a primary therapist and are specifically seeking additional nervous system-focused support. These sessions are collaborative and body-based, with an emphasis on regulation, embodiment, and nervous system awareness.

You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

Therapy can begin with curiosity, uncertainty, or simply the desire for something to feel different.
